The estate
Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere is a prestigious wine estate founded in the 17th century in the Bordeaux region. Located south of the medieval city of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere has been under the direction of Stephen von Neipperg since 1983. A member of a German family involved in viticulture for almost 8 centuries, Stephen von Neipperg manages the Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere with great passion and talent, through a resolutely modern approach to viticulture.
The vineyard
Situated at the foot of a hill, the estate has a 19.75-hectare vineyard planted in clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. Managed on a parcel-by-parcel basis, the atypical vineyard receives all the necessary attention and is certified for organic farming.
Winemaking and aging
Harvests from 17 September to 29 October. Vinification in oak vats. Extraction by pneumatic punch-downs. Aging on fine lees, carried out in barrels (60% new).
Blend
The 2020 Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere is made from a blend of Merlot (55%), Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
