The elegance and power of a Premier Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion

A true masterpiece from the prestigious Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion, the 2018 vintage of Chateau Canon is indisputably one of its greatest successes.

After a rainy winter and spring, a beautiful summer followed, extending well into dry and sunny autumn, which produced a miracle. At Chateau Canon, the harvest began on September 7th with Merlot and ended on October 5th with Cabernet Franc.

Blending Merlot (72%) and Cabernet Franc (28%), the Chateau Canon 2018 expresses all of the grandeur of the Saint-Emilion terroir, where it was born, on the right bank of Bordeaux.

At the tasting, the Chateau Canon 2018 presents bright fruit aromas that spring from the glass. The aromatic bouquet is quite generous, with notes of black fruit, cherry and marzipan, followed by fresh minty notes and delicate floral notes, evoking rose. It is on the palate, however, that the wine expresses itself fully, with magnificent density, and structured tannins with a silky touch. The palate is powerful, evolves a biting acidity and maintaining deliciously mellow and tasty fruit. A magnificent vintage, marked by the grace and refinement of Chateau Canon.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2018 Canon is blended of 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, with a pH of 3.69 and 14% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, it comes sashaying out of the glass with glamorous notes of cinnamon stick, baked blackberries, black cherry compote and licorice plus an undercurrent of plum preserves and smoked meats and, with coaxing, reveals a lovely floral signature of candied violets and red roses. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wonderfully soft-spoken, whispering of fragrant floral and earthy scents beneath a core of profound, mouth-coating black and blue fruits, draped in a high level of super ripe, plush tannins, finishing with amazing freshness and perfume with loads of mineral sparks emerging.
