Description
The authentic expression of the Côte des Blancs terroir through a delicate and complex chardonnay by Pierre Péters
The estate
Located for six generations in Mesnil-sur-Oger, south of Epernay, the Champagne Pierre Péters House has been exclusively dedicated to crafting Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru wines since 1919.
This 19-hectare vineyard, planted exclusively on the Côte des Blancs, owes its uniqueness to its hillside chalk terroir.
The House is renowned for the outstanding quality of its champagnes, vinified in small tanks and then aged on fine lees, allowing the richness of the Champagne terroir to be authentically expressed while preserving the varietal identity of the flagship grape, chardonnay.
The wine
This Cuvée Grande Réserve Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from Pierre Péters comes from a selection of four plots from the most emblematic crus of the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil, Avize, Cramant, Oger). About 20% of the best perpetual Reserve tanks complete the blend.
Winemaking and aging
This cuvée is aged for at least 36 months on lees before disgorgement. Its dosage is 5 g/liter.
Grape variety
100% chardonnay.
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Cuvée Grande Réserve Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru by Pierre Péters
Tasting
Appearance
The appearance is crystalline, with a beautiful pale gold color highlighted by a few green reflections typical of the grape variety. The effervescence is regular, presenting a persistent string of bubbles.
Nose
While the initial nose opens with floral and smoky notes, it gradually develops a complexity blending aromas of white peaches, citrus peel, and toasted bread.
Palate
Generous, pure, and elegant, the palate opens with a sensation of tension and indulgence. While the attack is dominated by notes of white fruits, candied lemon, and mandarin zest, subtle hints of roasted hazelnut gradually emerge. The finish is persistent, marked by saline and iodized aromas, characteristic of the chalky terroir of Mesnil-sur-Oger.
