Description

An exceptional vintage champagne where freshness and sweetness come together

The estate

The Moët & Chandon Champagne House was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made it a reference among European courts. A few years later, his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, expanded the house's aura internationally.
Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the house's emblematic cuvée, the Moët Imperial, in honor of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate several times and is said to have invented with his troops the gesture of sabering Moet champagne bottles to celebrate a victory.
Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the house produces, from a rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, singular cuvées recognized beyond borders for their quality and seductive personality.

The wine
Each Grand Vintage is unique, a free and personal interpretation of the year by Moët & Chandon's Cellar Master. Made from a harvest predominantly and exceptionally gathered in October, this Moët and Chandon Rosé 2013 presents gourmet, spicy fruity aromas, and a chiseled mouth structure. The Champagne Grand Vintage from the Moët & Chandon Champagne House is only produced in great years. The dosage of this cuvée is 5 g/liter.

Blend
Chardonnay 41%
Pinot Noir 33%
Meunier 26%
The wines from black grape varieties, with Meunier leading, are particularly successful, which explains their predominant part in the blend. For once, the chardonnay is a bit in the background.

Characteristics and tasting tips for Moët & Chandon: Grand Vintage Rosé 2013

Tasting
Color
The color is shimmering, the robe is pale yellow, bright with green reflections, the bubble is fine and persistent.

Nose
A bouquet of freshness: the first hints of fresh white flowers evolve towards pastry notes, sweet and blonde, punctuated by nuances of fresh walnut, hazelnut or toast. Alongside them, the fruit is crunchy, freshly ripe, with aromas of pear, white peach, nectarine.

Palate
The first contact is soft, supple and fluid. Then the texture unfolds, soft as cashmere or felt. This initial sweetness gradually purifies, the acidic frame stretches and persists to offer a final iodized and acidulous note, underlined by a nuance of pink grapefruit, salivating.
