Tasting Notes

Color
Yellow color, adorned with subtle golden and green highlights.

Nose
Opening with fragrances of toasted bread, toasted grains, and roasted hazelnut, the nose reveals notes of gingerbread, almond paste, and barley sugar as it airs, followed by touches of plum, mirabelle plum, quince, orange blossom, and anise.

Palate
A round, supple attack precedes a palate whose structure extends into a bright, tangy finish evoking clementine or pomelo.

The Richness and Balance of a Great Vintage Champagne

The Estate

The Champagne Moët & Chandon House was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly established it as a reference among European courts. A few years later, his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, expanded the house's reputation internationally.

Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the house's iconic cuvée, Moët Imperial, in honor of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and is said to have invented, along with his troops, the gesture of sabering bottles of Moët & Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory.

Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the house crafts, from a rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, distinctive cuvées recognized beyond borders for their quality and seductive personality.

Produced only in exceptional years in Champagne, the Grand Vintage is a free and personal interpretation of an exceptional year by Moët & Chandon's Cellar Master.

The 77th vintage in the history of the Moët & Chandon House, this 2016 vintage champagne benefits from 6 years of cellar aging as well as a minimum of 6 months of aging after disgorgement.
