The freshness and generosity of a Krug Champagne

Emblematic Champagne of the house, Krug Grande Cuvee embodies the vision of its founder: Joseph Krug. Krug Grande Cuvee goes beyond the notion of vintage, and is made with the aim of offering each year, regardless of the vagaries, the most generous expression of Champagne. Each new edition of Krug Grande Cuvee is therefore unique and created from a blank page.

Structured around the 2011 harvest, Krug Grande Cuvee 167th Edition is made from a blend of 191 wines from 13 different years, the oldest dating from 1991 and the youngest from 2011.

Comprising 47% of Pinot Noir, 36% of Chardonnay and 17% Pinot Meunier born on the greatest terroirs of the Champagne region, the blend of Krug Grande Cuvee 167th Edition combines the wines of the year with 42% of reserve wines meticulously selected from the house's extraordinary library. After a long 7-year rest in the coolness of the Krug cellars, Krug Grande Cuvee 167th Edition received its cork in the winter of 2017-2018.

On tasting, Krug Grande Cuvee 167th Edition seduces with its notes of dried fruits evoking hazelnut and almond, while gourmet brioche, honey and fruit jelly notes perfume the nose. Biting, the wine's finesse and depth with its pure texture wow the palate.

An alliance of freshness, elegance, roundness and generosity, displaying the perfect balance that is the definition of Champagne Krug, Krug Grande Cuvée 167th Edition offers the experience of a champagne with a refined style and superb dimension.

    Parker : 95+ / 100
    Wine Advocate-Parker :
Making its debut this year is Krug's NV Grande Cuvée 167ème Édition, a beautiful wine that wafts from the glass with aromas of yellow orchard fruit, peach and waxy citrus rind, complemented by complex notes of freshly baked bread, walnuts and smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and muscular but incisive, with a deep and concentrated core, a pinpoint mousse and a long, complex finish. Built around the 2011 vintage, the wine includes reserve wines dating back to 1995 and was disgorged in the winter of 2017-2018. Readers are advised to give it at least a couple years of bottle age before popping corks.
