Pavillon Blanc 2019

Complex, promising, youthful aromas marked by maturation; full attack, dense development, substance, breed and structure, with particular length on accents of blackcurrant blossom and gooseberry; a great white wine that should definitely be allowed to age a bit.

This is very linear and minerally with subtle mango and apple, as well as some pineapple and bitter lemon. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a creamy texture and great tension and energy. Heather and lavender undertones. Steely. Tangy finish. Subtle and fine. This is a joy to taste and drink now, but will age beautifully.

Pale yellow-green, silver reflections. Nuances of grapefruit, lemon zest and guava, white flowers, lily of the valley, a multi-faceted bouquet with a hint of roasted aromas. Textured, elegant, white peach, a finesse-rich acid structure, fresh lychee, mineral, a hint of sweetness on the finish, balanced and well-developed, nuances of pineapple, salty finish.

A refined example with both ripeness and freshness, perfect oak equilibrium; there’s a tropical hint with fresh pineapple, lime, lemongrass and stony notes. There’s great tension on the palate, complex and layered in an earlier-picked style, yet with fat, texture and length.

I continue to absolutely love the white from this estate, and their 2019 Château Margaux Pavillon Blanc is another brilliant release. All Sauvignon Blanc, it has a vibrant sense of minerality and chalkiness as well as notes of honeyed grapefruit, melon, and white flowers. As pure, focused, and balanced as they come, it's medium to full-bodied, has bright acidity and a great mid-palate, as well as concentration. It's approachable today yet will benefit from a year or three in the cellar and should be very long-lived.

The 2019 Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The nose starts out a little sluggish before giving way to a core of green apples, fresh lemons, and lime leaves, followed by hints of sea spray and almonds. The medium-bodied palate is crisp and intense, with loads of citrus and mineral sparks on the long finish.

The bouquet of Pavillon immediately shows a classic side, at least in terms of freshness, then a more tropical note with hints of papaya followed by anise. On the palate, the wine is delicate, elegant, gourmand and already very approachable. A serious, well-crafted wine, and yet, considering the tremendous level of the reds, there is an undeniable potential for further improvement!

A very stylish and understated white, featuring verbena, quinine and Key lime notes that breeze through, with sneaky length on the finish thanks to a mineral hint that runs underneath. This relies on purity and precision, with a long, subtle sel gris note that just won't quit on the finish. Beautiful. Drink now through 2035. 833 cases made.

Expressive and generous on the nose with white stone fruit, apricot and peach nuances and a hint of white flowers. Lovely impact on the tongue, quite an opulent opening, round and full but with an energetic core and the acidity coming through strongly on the finish. Stoney with apple nuances, clean, lively and precise. Such lemon juiciness at the finish, the flavour goes on and on. Extremely crystalline and flavourful but not overthetop with an appealing grapefruit element on the finish. You could drink this now but it will age very gracefully. grapefruit element on the finish too. Managing director Philippe Bascaules says both 2018 and 2019 were good surprises for whites, with picking for the 2019 vintage starting at the beginning of September to retain acidity. 'The pH is low (3.10) and we've found the style we want, ripe flavours but also tension on the palate', he said.

The 2019 Pavillon Blanc is a very pretty, airy white from château Margaux done in a style that emphasizes energy more than anything else. White pepper, crushed rocks and bright saline accents play off the citrus fruit. The 2019 is quite steely, and yet there are no green or vegetal notes at all.

High Sauvignon Blanc aromatics, with gunsmoke and flint reduction on the first nose, opening to juicy white peach, white pear, nuanced pumice stone minerality. Pavillon Blanc is one of the most structured white wines of Bordeaux, and reveals its complexities slowly, but already the texture tells you just what an exceptional vintage it is. Subtle yet unmissable.

A bright nose of Golden apple, quince, honey and fresh cream. An exquisite freshness on the palate, despite the two exceptional heatwaves of 2019, thanks to a significant temperature difference between day and night.

Logo on the cork: DIAM30 Pale color with green highlights. The nose is a little milky at the moment and calls for decanting. A simple gentle transfer into another glass changes everything. The wine then reveals a subtle hazelnut note that was unsuspected until then. It brings Chardonnay to mind! The palate is delicately silky and fragrant, with plenty of flavor, a refined texture, a melting body and, this time, a return of Sauvignon aromas (orange) on the finish. That last note was not detectable on the nose. Lovely, sapid length. For the record, since 2017 this wine has been bottled in a very dark bottle, the same one used at Château Margaux since 2015. This is an aesthetic choice, but also intended to protect it from light.
