Description
An Enticing Haut-Médoc Second Wine with Balance and Aromatic Richness
The estate
Château Sociando-Mallet is an 83-hectare estate overlooking the Gironde estuary. Located on the left bank of Bordeaux, this property ranks among the finest unclassified wines of the Médoc.
The vineyard
The vines, averaging 25 years of age, are planted on a terroir of gravel and clay with a limestone subsoil. The vineyard is farmed traditionally, without anti-botrytis treatments, and through a careful selection and measured use of organic amendments.
The wine
Produced under the Haut-Médoc appellation, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2021 is the château's Second Wine. This cuvée takes its name from a species of dragonfly found in the Médoc.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo sorting both before and after destemming. Traditional vinification and malolactic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts 25 days. This Bordeaux wine is aged in new oak barrels (30%) for 12 months.
Blend
La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet 2021 is crafted from a blend of Merlot (84%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (16%).
