Characteristics and tasting tips for the Beaune Premier Cru "Les Montrevenots" 2019 from Domaine A.F. Gros
Tasting
Color
The color displays a golden hue adorned with subtle green highlights.
Nose
The bouquet reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity with notes of almond and dried fruit. Touches of fern and white flowers add a floral and botanical dimension to the whole. A few nuances of citrus and spice complete this refined olfactory expression.
Palate
On the palate, this white wine unveils beautiful intensity with mineral flavors characteristic of the limestone terroir. The structure is balanced, offering an acidic tension that brings freshness and liveliness. The finish is persistent, leaving a slightly stony impression and delicate woody influences.
Food and wine pairings
This white Beaune Premier Cru pairs perfectly with poultry in cream sauce, noble fish prepared with butter, or seafood and shellfish. It also elegantly accompanies Burgundian cheeses such as Époisses or an aged Comté.
Service and cellaring
The Beaune Premier Cru "Les Montrevenots" 2019 can be appreciated now while possessing a cellaring potential that will allow it to evolve favorably in the cellar.
An exceptional white Beaune Premier Cru from Domaine A.F. Gros in Burgundy
The estate
The Domaine A.F. Gros was created in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent, who combined their respective family plots to found this estate. Based in Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, the estate now covers over ten hectares distributed between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Since 2013, Caroline and Mathias Parent, representing the second generation, have been managing the estate. The estate practices sustainable viticulture favoring manual work and respect for the soils, producing wines recognized for their authentic expression of Burgundian terroirs.
The vineyard
The "Les Montrevenots" Climat is located on the southern slope of the Montagne Saint-Désire in Beaune, benefiting from optimal exposure. The soils are particularly stony, rich in limestone and white marl, lending the wine its characteristic minerality. This 26-are plot represents the estate's only white wine production, made exclusively from Chardonnay.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage in Burgundy proved to be exceptional despite contrasting weather conditions. After a dry winter and spring, flowering was disrupted by rain and hail causing coulure. The summer then saw two intense heatwaves, accompanied by drought and wind, concentrating sugars in the berries. These conditions led to a harvest reduction of about 40% compared to a normal year, but the impeccable health and perfect physiological maturity of the grapes resulted in a vintage of very high quality.
Vinification and aging
The grapes for the Beaune Premier Cru "Les Montrevenots" 2019 were harvested manually and then meticulously sorted. After slow pressing, fermentation took place in oak barrels. Aging lasted about twelve months in barrels, half of which were new wood. The wine was then fined but bottled without filtration in order to preserve all its aromatic complexity and texture.
