Description
The Freshness and Finesse of a Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Emilion
Located at the top of the Saint-Emilion plateau on the Right bank of the Bordeaux region, Chateau Villemaurine benefits from an exceptional limestone terroir, whose identity is clearly expressed through wines with a unique personality.
Great wines are born in great terroirs. The exceptional vineyard of Chateau Villemaurine was spared by the tragic episodes of frost that marked the end of April 2017. The climatic conditions of the 2017 vintage have made it possible for the grapes to achieve optimal maturity. The wines present a beautiful balance of flavors thanks to an optimal level of sugar and acidity, and great aromatic freshness. The harvests suggested a very qualitative new vintage, which was confirmed through the winemaking process.
With its blend typical of the Right Bank, largely dominated by Merlot (80%) and complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%), the Chateau Villemaurine 2017 expresses the elegance characteristic of Saint-Emilion wines. In the glass, this wine displays an intense color. The purity and brightness of the fruit comes through powerfully on the nose, while the palate is marked by a frank attack, highlighting the beautiful vivaciousness of the wine. Throughout its aromatic development, the wine stays in tact thanks to a structured marked by the presence of silky tannins that stretch toward a persistent finish. Precision, straightforwardness and finesse characterize this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe in a style that expresses the nobility of the great Villemaurine terroir.
