2006 Haut-Medoc, Burgundy.
Mainly characterised by its strength, the 2006 Chateau Sociando-Mallet is mostly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot. This Haut-Medoc displays a blue/purple-tinted bright red colour. The nose gives off blackcurrant and cedar notes. On the palate, the 2006 Chateau Sociando-Mallet offers a good structure composed of fruity, delicious Cabernets enhanced by both supple and dense tannins. This strong yet refined wine has a great ageing potential and will evolve over the years.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' 2006 tasting, the 2006 Château Sociando Mallet displayed a lifted and sprightly bouquet with black fruit, scorched earth, fresh mint and smoky aromas - quasi-Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity, fresh in the mouth with a saline tincture towards the composed finish. There is impressive freshness here, not overly complex for sure, but it conveys energy. Drink now and over the next decade. Tasted April 2016.
