Description
A complex and balanced rosé from Chateau Sainte Roseline
The Lampe de Meduse 2017 from Chateau Sainte Roseline, a First Classified Growth of 1955 in the Provence region, is a wine steeped in history and housed in a bottle with a particular shape. First created in 1950 by the Baroness Rasque of Laval, the Lampe de Meduse wine takes its name from the Knights of Medusa, a prestigious brotherhood working for the promotion of Provence wines, born in 1690. Before being inducted, the Knights of Medusa used to "Lamper le vin", meaning "to drink a large amount of wine in one stroke".
A product truly at the heart of Chateau Sainte Roseline, the Lampe de Meduse 2017 represents the unmistakable style of the estate through an accessible and very expressive rosé wine, subtly balancing of finesse and power. The complex and perfectly controlled blend reveals the typical expression of the Mediterranean grape varieties and the clay-limestone soils in which they grow. The 2017 vintage blends 32% Cinsault, 28 % Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 7% Rolle, 4% Syrah, 2% Tibouren and 2% Carignan.
In the glass, the Chateau Sainte Roseline Lampe de Meduse 2017 shows off a light salmon-colored dress. Very expressive and displaying great complexity, the nose seduces with intense and fresh notes of citrus, underlined by delicious strawberry and sweet exotic fruit fragrances. On the palate, the wine reveals a gorgeous structure and roundness without losing finesse, achieving a pleasant and harmonious balance. The finish is quite persistent, leaving a pleasant freshness on the palate. A rosé whose complexity will allow it to pair perfectly with a wide range of summer meals.
