Description
A beautiful reference of its appellation, the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion – Chateau Pavie Macquin- has produced an exceptional 2018 vintage.
Recently joined by his son, Cyrille, Nicolas Thienpont has managed the production of this beautiful wine since 1994.
Located on the right bank of Bordeaux, le Chateau Pavie Macquin enjoys a privileged location, on the clay-limestone plateau upon limestone with aseries, characteristic of Saint-Emilion. The superb vineyard of 15 hectares is managed in a traditional way with organic methods and phytotherapy.
A blend of Merlot (78%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%), the Chateau Pavie Macquin 2018 is aged for 16 to 20 months in oak barrels (50% new oak and 50% barrels of one previous wine).
An exceptional vintage, the 2018 offers a pure expression of the limestone soil of Saint-Emilion. The Chateau Pavie Macquin 2018 reflects the freshness and the mineral tension of limestone, endowed with a great power. A great vintage of Chateau Pavie Macquin.
