Description

The roundness and freshness of a silky Saint-Emilion

Acquired by the Cuvelier family in 2013, the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe Chateau Les Grandes Murailles is one of the most important references of its appellation.

Boasting a beautiful location on the right bank of Bordeaux, the Chateau Les Grandes Murailles estate expands over a vineyard of 1.46 hectares, on a limestone island.

At Chateau Les Grandes Murailles, the 2018 vintage will be remembered for its strong climatic contrasts, often the signs of a great vintage. After a rainy winter and beginning of spring, a beautiful summer with plenty of sunshine arrived and lasted until harvest, allowing for perfectly ripe fruit. The harvest took place on September 26, 2018, yielding Merlot of exceptional quality.

A 100% Merlot, the Chateau Les Grandes Murailles 2018 offers the timeless expression of a Grand Cru Classe from Saint-Emilion. At the tasting, the wine reveals an intense aromatic bouquet, marked by delicious notes of black fruits (blackcurrant and blackberry cream), along with some smoky notes, like tobacco, and delicate floral fragrances. On the palate, the wine develops a certain roundness and offers plenty of crunchy, juicy fruit on a texture structured by elegant, silky tannins. The refreshing finish preserves this juicy fruit and is very persistent. The 2018 vintage at Chateau Les Grandes Murailles is showing signs of a perfect success with a long potential for age.
