Description
The Suppleness and Compexity of an Unmissable Grand Cru of Saint-Emilion
A Grand Cru Classe of the prestigious Saint-Emilion appellation, on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region, Chateau Le Prieure is one of the most essential historic properties of the appellation, with a vineyard whose origins date back to the 16th century.
Expressing the classic style of Saint-Emilion, the wines made by the talented young oenologist Penelope Godefroy highlight the precision and improvement in quality of the wines in recent years. And this new 2017 vintage confirms it.
In the process of organic conversion and already following biodynamic practices, Chateau Le Prieure extends over a superb vineyard of 6.24 ha, divided into 19 parcels. This precise micro-plot approach to viticulture results in a beautiful expression of this exceptional terroir.
Although the devastating frost of April 2017 did not spare the vineyard of Chateau Le Prieure, the vines located in the best terroirs represented in the estate’s Grand Vin were lucky enough to survive.
The blend is typical of the Saint-Emilion appellation (80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc). Chateau Le Prieure 2017 emphasizes a more precise style achieved by the property in a wine of great elegance and class.
The Chateau Le Prieure 2017 expresses the typical characteristics of its vintage by presenting the brilliant freshness of the fruit upon what is already a very complex aromatic palette. On the palate, the wine presents a beautiful dense texture, supported by a nice tannic structure with great flexibility. A simply unmissable Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe.
