Description
Chateau La Marzelle 2016: a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru of great magnitude
Chateau La Marzelle is a Grand Cru Classe of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The 16.28-hectare vineyard has vines with an average age of 30 years. This one plot vineyard is made up with 80% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon vines that enjoy a diverse terroir of gravel, sand on top of clay, and ancient sand. This is the second year that the vineyard has been cultivated biodynamically. The Chateau La Marzelle 2016 is aged in new French oak barrels, and in six terracotta 500-litre jars.
The 2016 vintage of Château La Marzelle took place in extremely complex climatic conditions. However, after a dry summer and a beautiful warm early autumn, the harvest took place from September 29 to October 14.
The Chateau La Marzelle 2016 reveals a deep red color and purple highlights. It is a wine of ample volume that is volumptuous and creamy. This wine has a great balance and a lovely length.
This comment is mainly intended to describe the general profile of a wine at a given moment. Note that over time, the wine may offer other organoleptic qualities as it evolves in bottle.
