The style of a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe in a superb vintage ending in -9

The estate
Located near the Premier Crus Clos Fourtet and Beau-Sejour Bécot, Chateau Grand-Pontet has belonged to the Pourquet-Becot family since 1980. Managed by Sylvie Pourquet-Bécot, this magnificent Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion is situated on an exceptional limestone terroir and enjoys an international reputation for its very successful wines, which delight even the choosiest connoisseurs of the appellation.

The vineyard
Located on a plateau on the western side of Saint-Emilion, the Chateau Grand-Pontet vineyard covers an area of 14 hectares, including 12.72 hectares of vines in production. The vines are 42 years old on average and are planted in thin soils resting on limestone, clay-limestone and clay-sandy bases. The vineyard is managed through a biocontrol process. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot (70%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (17.5%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7.5%) and Malbec (5%).

The winemaking
Vibrating sorting tables at the entrance of the winery, de-stemmed grape harvest. Low extraction at moderate temperature. 35 days fermentation. Temperature between 22 ° C - 28 ° C. Malolactic fermentation in new tanks and barrels.

The aging
55% new French oak barrels.
