The estate
Chateau Grand Corbin-Despagne enjoys an ideal location north-west of the Saint-Emilion plateau, next to the Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. The estate was founded at the end of the 18th century. This 2019 vintage is the 209th of the Despagne family at the property.
The vineyard
The Chateau Grand Corbin-Despagne vineyard covers almost 29 hectares in the Saint-Emilion appellation. It is planted in clay-siliceous soils with iron ore and ancient sand on clay. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2013. The vines are aged by 38 years on average.
The winemaking and aging
Manual harvests in crates. 5 successive sorts. Plot vinification. Thermo-regulated maceration. Aging in barrels (50% new, 50% of one previous wine).
Blend
The 2020 Chateau Grand Corbin-Despagne is made of a blend of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (24%), Cabernet Sauvignon (1%).
