Description
The estate
The First Wine of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe Chateau Fleur Cardinale offers a remarkable expression of the Saint-Emilion terroir, an emblematic appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
Chateau La Fleur Cardinale has a 22.5-hectare vineyard planted in a veritable mosaic of 7 different clay and limestone soils and subsoils.
The vintage
2019 was not an easy year for Chateau Fleur Cardinale. The vines faced great contrasts in temperature. However, the summer was beautiful, allowing the fruit to develop perfectly and under impeccable sanitary conditions. A few light showers in September helped revitalize the ripening process of the vine, whose fruit reached the perfect maturity in time for the harvest.
The winemaking
Harvest from October 2 to 14. 3 sorts, one of which by density. Fermentation for 28 days in double-layered tapered stainless steel vats. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Gravity-fed pour-overs / R’Pulse.
The aging
Aging for 13 to 15 months in new French oak barrels.
Grape varieties planted
Merlot (76%), cabernet franc (20%) et cabernet sauvignon (4%).
