Characteristics and tasting advice for Château d'Issan 2024

Tasting

The 2024 vintage captivates with its freshness and purity, combining finesse, elegance, and balance in a silky and accessible style today, while promising a great aging potential faithful to its terroir.

A refined and elegant Margaux wine

The property

The Château d'Issan, located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, is a historic wine estate dating back to the 12th century. The vineyard is managed by the Cruse and Lorenzetti families, with Emmanuel Cruse at its head. The estate is renowned for its wines of great elegance.

The vineyard

Château d'Issan cultivates its vines on an exceptional Margaux terroir, characterized by deep gravel soils typical of the appellation.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage began with a January with temperatures dropping to -4°C, relatively mild for the season. February and March saw abundant rainfall without negative temperatures. Bud break began on March 27, followed by flowering observed on May 29. Mid-veraison occurred on August 12, announcing a gradual ripening of the grapes until the harvest, which took place from September 26 to October 8.

Aging in barrels, 50% of which are new.

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (65%), merlot (30%), complemented by a touch of cabernet franc (2%), malbec (2%) and petit verdot (1%).
