Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Corbin 2025
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals dominant notes of red and black fruits of remarkable freshness, subtly accompanied by delicate floral hints.
Palate
From the very first sips, this wine proves highly promising and resolutely fruit-driven. It offers a remarkable balance between lovely freshness and an elegant tannic structure. The velvety texture underscores an approach defined by finesse, with no over-extraction whatsoever.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with classic meats such as beef, veal, pork, lamb, as well as duck and game. It also goes very well with roast chicken, braised dishes, Asian cuisine, meaty fish like tuna, or dishes based on mushrooms and pasta.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 15.5°C. With excellent potential, this wine can be cellared until at least 2050, with a peak expected around its tenth year.
The elegance of a Saint-Émilion grand cru at Château Corbin
The estate
Acquired in 1924 by the Cruse family, Château Corbin is a historic estate in Bordeaux. While the château was built in the 18th century, legend has it that the estate's lands once belonged to the famous Black Prince, who fought the French at the dawn of the Hundred Years' War. The property stands out for its exclusively female line of succession over four generations. Today, Anabelle Cruse Bardinet heads the estate and embodies this unique continuity. Located on the border of Pomerol, this grand cru classé has established itself as a leading name within its appellation.
The vineyard
The terroir extends over nearly 12 hectares in production to the northwest of Saint-Émilion. Planted in a single block on a plateau with a natural slope that ensures excellent drainage, the vines, averaging 34 years of age, thrive on a mosaic of soils. These include blue clay as well as sandy-clay zones rich in iron deposits, resting on a subsoil of ferric clay.
Winemaking and aging
After rigorous densimetric sorting, the berries are processed plot by plot in small concrete vats. Extraction is carried out gently through manual pump-overs, with a maceration lasting from 20 to 28 days. Aging lasts approximately 16 months. It is distributed between French oak barrels, concrete vats and glass globes, adding an extra dimension to this wine produced from a meticulous selection. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Grape varieties
Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
