Description
A Dense and Velvety Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe
A superb reference of the prestigious Saint-Emilion appellation, the Grand Cru Classe Chateau Clos de Sarpe 2018 is already showing signs of a magnificent vintage.
Despite contrasting climatic conditions at the beginning of the season, a hot summer and long autumn made it possible for the fruit to reach optimal maturity. Beginning on September 27 with Merlot and completed on October 10 with the Cabernet Franc, the harvest yielded small but very concentrated fruit.
Enjoying an ideal location on the plateau of Saint-Emilion, on the right bank of the Bordeaux region, the vines of Chateau Clos de Sarpe are planted in clay-limestone soils and are currently undergoing conversion to organic farming.
Blending Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%), the Chateau Clos de Sarpe 2018 displays all the qualities of an exceptional Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion.
At the tasting, the Chateau Clos de Sarpe 2018 displays a deep color. Its intense aromatic bouquet reveals notes of black fruits, small red berries and spices. On the palate, the wine offers a beautiful structure with mouth-coating tannins, unraveling tasty fruity and spicy touches. Balancing a slight touch of sweetness, the wine is enhanced by a vibrant acidity that stretches into the long, precise and intensely aromatic finish. A great vintage for Chateau Clos de Sarpe.
