Interesting maturation spice; has juiciness, freshness and breed, tension and length, and great character.

Dark and concentrated nose, ripe and heady. This has excellent structure: right from the start you can feel and taste the density of the fruit, but it’s so well handled and well proportioned—everything in balance. It’s a rich style, full on the palate with a cooling menthol aspect, nice spicy edges and bright acidity driving it forward. The texture stands out, with smooth yet present tannins giving a very appealing mouthfeel. One I immediately wanted another glass of, but it will be even better with a few more years of aging.

Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, dried leaves, earth, charcoal, toasted walnuts and graphite. It’s medium- to full-bodied with firm, tightly knit tannins. Structured and compact with wet-earth character. Try after 2025.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine black berry fruit, nuances of cinnamon and wood, sweet ripe cherries and notes of orange marmalade in the background. Complex, juicy and elegant, finesse-rich structure, well-integrated tannins, salty minerality on the finish, has great freshness and ageing potential, but can already be drunk. Ten years ago, this would have been the quality of the Grand Vins ... (Drink 2025-2040).

Grilled cedar, clear smoked coffee bean and vanilla on the nose, with blackberry and damson fruits underneath, but you have to work to get through to them. This has grip and structure as well, and is an enjoyable wine.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Boyd-Cantenac opens with oaky overtones leading to cassis, black cherry compote, and dried herb scents plus a touch of tar. Medium-bodied, the palate is rugged and rustic with a short, simple finish.

Intense and flavorful, with cedar notes and plenty of personality. A wine for aging, offering remarkable value for money.

This wine will need a bit of time. It has a lovely, soft and silky substance, wrapped in alluring oak that has not yet fully integrated. Fine-grained tannins and a beautifully smooth texture.

The initial nose reveals its élevage (mocha, toasted bread, milk chocolate, caramel) before offering beautiful notes of intense rose. The wine is fresh and agile, with a lovely wave of finely grained tannins that arrives on the finish.

The wines of Lucien Guillemet, particularly Boyd-Cantenac, have an incomparable, highly distinctive style. Some will mainly note the oak, marked by roasted nuances, but it would be a shame not to focus on the inviting and obvious fruity notes that enrich the bouquet! On the palate, the wine shows a luscious attack. It is dense and charming. Its fine tannins unfold slowly and harmonize with the acidic structure. The latter imparts vigor and ensures a fresh finish. A tasty, delicious wine that deserves a little cellaring.

Logo on the cork: A inside a circle (Amorim) Dark, intense, purplish color. Very aromatic, fruity nose, with an original hazelnut backdrop. Delicate on entry, aromatic mid-palate, with a melting texture and plenty of flavor; the wine develops a touch austere, yet tasty. Medium-length finish where, for now, the oak stands out a little while the tannin remains fine.
