Description
A balanced and radiant Premier Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion
The estate
Chateau Beausejour Heritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse has been a famous Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion from the very beginning of the Saint-Emilion classification.
The vineyard
This 7-hectare gem is rooted on the hillside of Saint-Emilion. The 40-year-old vines are planted in a mosaic of terroirs, formed of clay-limestone soils on limestone. The vineyard is managed according to traditional methods and most often cultivated manually.
The vintage
The heavy rainfall and the warm weather of winter 2020 favored the early budding of the vines. A frost episode on April 17 was followed by record rains causing significant mildew pressure and a slowdown in growth. Flowering, thanks to the winds counteracting the humidity, took place under good conditions. The beginning of June was marked by significantly cool temperatures as well as very heavy rain, which ceased between June 19 and August 11. The beautiful thermal amplitudes, the cool nights of August and a few rainy episodes created ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes. The summer conditions of September, marked by the return of a certain freshness due to rainfall, refined the ripeness, colors and tannic structure of the grapes.
The blend
This Chateau Beausejour Heritiers Duffau-Lagarosse is made from a blend of Merlot (81%) and Cabernet Franc (19%).
The tasting
The Chateau Beausejour Heritiers Duffau-Lagarosse 2020 highlights the profile of the 2020 vintage with its balance, freshness and bright fruit.
