Wine Spectator

Alison Napjus

This toasty Champagne features flavors of lemon curd, brioche, glazed apricot and vanilla-infused pastry cream riding a fine, lively mousse. Well-meshed and creamy, animated by vibrant acidity through the spiced finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2034. 300 cases imported.

Decanter

Taittinger’s vintage cuvée has been on a fine run of form, showcasing plenty of approachability beneath glossy, complex and decadent aromatics. Bittersweet roasted lemon, apple tart and pastry cream meet lots of ripe, juicy orange citrus typical of the year, with the complexity of toasted nut and nutmeg emerging. Not for those who like their Champagnes ultra-dry, but the 9 g/L dosage will continue to integrate over many years to come.

La RVF

A pale golden-yellow color, with an open, delicate, and pure nose

Le Figaro Vin

A subtle, iodized, rather shy nose, with smoky reduction notes, stone and slate, as well as more opulent aromas of brioche and daffodils. Complete on the palate, with plenty of character. Saline notes on the finish.

Mostly grand cru as well as 30% from Villers-Marmery and Trepail, I love the nose of the 2016 Champagne Millesime Brut, which is very pretty and offers lots of pleasure and decadence. It has more Chardonnay character at this tasting, with lemon custard, a long, pillowy mousse, and a lovely, balanced feel on the finish. Drink 2025-2040.
