Description
The freshness and aromatic richness of an exceptional Rosé champagne
The producer
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After over 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Today, headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the family’s seventh generation, Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines throughout the world, due to its vintages that are crafted like true works of art.
The vineyard
Comprising nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House’s strength comes from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. An impressive patchwork of terroirs, the Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the diversity of the Champagne region’s soils.
The wine
Louis Roederer's 2016 Vintage Rosé is made exclusively from the vineyard of "La Rivière", an illustrious terroir located in the communes of Cumières and Chouilly.
The vintage
A cool, wet spring gave way to a dry summer punctuated by heatwaves at the end of August. The grapes harvested at optimum ripeness showcase a high quality.
Vinification and ageing
21% of the wine is vinified in wood. Vinification by "infusion", a technique involving maceration of Pinot Noir juice with some Chardonnay juice, leading to the perfect integration of the grape varieties. Malolactic fermentation is carried out at 4%. The dosage of this Rosé champagne from the 2016 vintage is 9 g/l.
The blend
Pinot Noir (62%)
Chardonnay (38%).
