Description
The typicity and elegance of a Blanc de Blancs champagne
The producer
Located in Dizy in the heart of the Marne Valley, the Jacquesson Champagne House, founded in 1798, was taken over by the Chiquet family in 1974. Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, two passionate brothers, produce exceptional cuvées thanks to their parcel-based approach and their unique vinification and ageing philosophy. The brothers express the unique character and richness of their very large 28-hectare chalk terroirs.
With its individually numbered vintages that are renowned for their finesse, their aerial purity and their exceptional ageing potential, Jacquesson is poised among the elite of the finest names in Champagne.
The wine
Jacquesson's Avize Champ Caïn 2009 is a Blanc de Blancs champagne produced on a terroir composed of chalky clay-sand-lime soils with chalk gravels on Campanian chalk. The total surface area of production is 1.30 hectares. The vineyard was planted in 1962. Bottled on June 3rd 2010, the disgorgement was carried out in April 2019. The dosage is 1.5 gr/litre.
The vintage
A dry and cold winter gave way to a mild and particularly rainy spring, which led to significant mildew pressure. The dry and hot summer preceded a superb end-of-season, ideal for refining the maturity of the grapes. The grapes harvested boasted a high-quality with a maturity comparable to that of 2002.
The blend
Jacquesson's Avize Champ Caïn 2009 is a 100% Chardonnay.
