Characteristics and tasting tips for the Champagne Brut by EPC

Tasting

Nose
The nose reveals subtle iodine notes, accompanied by dried fruit, before opening up to aromas of very ripe yellow fruit that lend generosity and a delicious character to the whole.

Palate
The palate seduces with its supple, balanced character. This accessible Champagne offers an enveloping texture that will appeal to many, combining freshness, gentle sweetness, and a harmonious expression of fruit.

Food and wine pairings

This Champagne Brut pairs ideally with a creamy risotto with king trumpet mushrooms or a rosemary focaccia.

Service and storage

To fully appreciate this Champagne Brut, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 10°C.

An expressive and balanced Brut Champagne

The estate

Founded in June 2019 by Édouard Roy, Jérôme Queige, and Camille Jullien Gilardi, EPC Champagne is the first start-up in the world of Champagne. Based in Vindey in the Marne department, this innovative House works with seven to eight cooperatives and winegrowers from various terroirs, without owning its own vineyards. Under the leadership of its three founders and Cellar Master Richard Davy, EPC stands out for its complete transparency: traceable, single-varietal, and single-plot cuvées. All cuvées have been awarded gold medals at the Gilbert & Gaillard competition and honor the direct commitment of the winegrowers.

The vineyard

This Champagne Brut comes from the terroir of Epernay, in the heart of Champagne. The vines thrive on Upper Cretaceous soils consisting of clay, limestone, and chalk, offering the grapes ideal conditions to develop complexity and minerality. This Epernay terroir gives the wine its distinctive character and authentic expression.

The Champagne

This Brut cuvée is based on a blend consisting of 77% from the 2023 vintage, supplemented by 23% reserve wines. This combination ensures consistency and aromatic complexity, while preserving the freshness and festive character sought for this accessible Champagne.

Winemaking and ageing

This Champagne Brut is produced in stainless steel tanks to preserve the wine's aromatic purity and freshness. Malolactic fermentation is carried out, lending roundness and suppleness to the whole. This meticulous winemaking, the result of a collaboration between EPC and a group of winegrowers from Epernay, reflects the House's commitment to a transparent and quality-oriented approach.

Grape varieties

46% Meunier, 31% Chardonnay and 23% Pinot Noir.
