Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for EPC Blanc de Blancs Brut
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays a pale, bright yellow hue, enlivened by a stream of fine, persistent bubbles.
Nose
The bouquet reveals indulgent aromas of crisp apple and citrus fruits, accompanied by floral notes and hints of honey. White fruits express themselves generously, evoking orchard fruits in syrup.
Palate
The attack is lively and fresh, driven by beautiful energy. The palate delivers flavors of citrus and white fruits, notably apple, in an indulgent register. The finish offers lovely length, combining roundness and freshness.
Food and wine pairings
This Blanc de Blancs Brut is an ideal match for an aperitif. At the table, it pairs perfectly with a risotto with oyster mushrooms and Comté, Thai coconut chicken with cashews, or roast chicken. It also goes well with gratin dauphinois, Brie de Meaux, seafood, fish, white meats, and grilled vegetables.
A fresh and indulgent Blanc de Blancs Champagne from the Côteaux du Sézannais
The estate
Founded in June 2019 by Édouard Roy, Jérôme Queige, and Camille Jullien Gilardi, EPC has established itself as the first Champagne startup. Based in Vindey in the Marne, the House works with seven to eight partner cooperatives across different Champagne terroirs (Bethon, Côte des Bar, Sézannais, Vertus). Backed by prominent investors such as Xavier Niel and Didier Deschamps, EPC is reshaping the sector through total transparency and its single-cru, single-varietal cuvées crafted with minimal additives.
The vineyard
This Blanc de Blancs comes from the Côteaux du Sézannais, in the Bethon area, located about three and a half hours by bike south of Épernay. This Champagne vineyard rests on Upper Cretaceous soils composed of chalk, marl, and clay, a terroir particularly favorable to the expression of chardonnay.
The cuvée
This Blanc de Blancs cuvée is made up of 85% of the 2021 vintage, complemented by 15% reserve wines, adding complexity and consistency to the aromatic profile. The dosage is 5 g/L.
Vinification and aging
The Blanc de Blancs Brut is vinified in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full, giving the Champagne its roundness and indulgent character while preserving its natural freshness.
Grape variety
100% chardonnay.
