Description
Drappier reveals a delicate and fruity Brut Nature
The estate
Since its creation in 1808, the Drappier Champagne House has had a history intimately linked to Pinot Noir, its preferred grape variety. It was in the 1930s that, against the general consensus of the commune, this grape variety was once again planted on the estate. This story would rule in the estate’s favor, which cuvee, the Drappier 100% Pinot Noir, was, incidentally, General de Gaulle’s preferred wine for his family meals.
Today, the children of Andre and Micheline Drappier represent the eighth generation to cultivate this exceptional vineyard in organic viticulture and biodynamism, highlighting forgotten grape varieties such as Arbane, Petit Meslier and Blanc Vrai.
The vineyard
Located at the south of Reims, the vineyard at Drappier Champagne House covers 100 hectares of vines, spread between the Cote des Bar and its old vines, the Reims Mountain and its intense Pinot Noir, as well as the Cote des Blancs and its incredibly fine Chardonnay. This vineyard stands out for its limestone-rich terroir, which is associated with maximum sunshine. Some of Drappier’s plots are, in addition, worked on by draught houses.
The wine
The Brut Nature champagne by the Drappier estate is made from plots which enjoy optimal exposure and soils dominated by limestone. It brings together all of these elements to represent the perfect expression of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking and aging
This Brut Nature by the Drappier estate is made from the first press. Gravity-fed vinification. Natural settling. Malolactic fermentation. Use of organic yeasts straight from the estate. Aging, which lasts for 36 months, is carried out in bottle.
Blend
This Brut Nature by the Drappier estate is a 100% Pinot Noir wine.
