Description

An aromatic brut champagne with a rare intensity

The estate

The Deutz Champagne House was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by two Prussians, one of which was William Deutz. One was a wine merchant and the other sold champagne. The two founders were both equally involved in bottling, disgorging, dosage and labelling, even before they owned their own champagne and vineyards. Throughout the 20th century, the heirs of the founders gradually shaped the vineyard by buying plots in the best terroirs of the Champagne region. Today, the Deutz Champagne House is owned by the famous Roederer family. The great history of Deutz champagnes portrays a harmonious style between both virtuosity and refinement.

The blend

The 1999 William Deutz champagne is predominantly composed of Pinot Noir, accompanied by chardonnay and pinot meunier.

The tasting

Colour

Cuvée William Deutz Brut 1999 showcases a golden, brilliant colour with warm-toned hues and a delicate effervescence.

Nose

The nose is precise, fine and complex, offering fruity aromas (mirabelle plums, white peaches) or sweet spices and narcissus. The palate reveals a rare intensity, mineral and roasted notes are expressed with ease.

Palate

The attack then gives way to more generous aromatic notes: yellow fruit, candied ginger, nutmeg, honey... The palate is seduced by this champagne’s soft and velvety texture. The full and vinous expression complement the initial freshness. The finish boasts a great aromatic persistence, with linguering flavours of brioche and hazelnuts.
