A Margaux Second Wine by Chateau d’Issan
The estate
Chateau d’Issan is a Bordeaux estate renowned since the 12th century. Throughout history the exceptional wines of this property have graced the tables of kings and emperors. Le Blason d'Issan is the Second Wine of Chateau d'Issan, created in 1995.
The vineyard
The 59-hectare vineyard covers three appellations. Most of it is planted in the gravel and alluvial hills of Margaux. Blason d'Issan is created from the youngest vines on the Margaux terroir.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage was a great one at Chateau d'Issan. A mild winter was followed by a rainy spring and a hot summer. The rainy days and cool nights of September restored the vitality of the vines just in time for the harvest. The fruit reach perfect ripeness and was very concentrated, delivering precise and balanced tannins.
The winemaking
Harvest from September 25 to October 11. Plot-by-plot vinification. Thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. Gentle extraction. Blended in mid-January.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (40%), merlot (60%).
