Description
A Perfectly Balanced Chablis Premier Cru
The Chablis Premier Cru "Montee de Tonnerre" from Domaine Billaud-Simon is a 100% Chardonnay white wine, produced in the prestigious Chablis Premier Cru appellation. This small plot of just 2 hectares and 15 ares gets its name from an old Roman road nearby, which once connected Auxerre and Tonnerre. The vines here grow in the Kimmeridgian clay soils so emblematic of Chablis. The wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation, followed by a natural malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A lack of oak-aging allows the terroir to fully express itself through crisp, refreshing Chardonnay wines.
The Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis Premier Cru "Montee de Tonnerre" 2016 reveals a white gold hue with greenish-yellow reflections. On the nose, this wine offers an extremely generous aromatic bouquet, which is mineral and spicy. On the palate, this white Burgundy achieves the perfect balance between strength, freshness, sweet notes of fruit and floral touches. A complex and elegant wine with remarkable harmony.
This tasting note is intended to describe the general profile of the wine. It is however necessary to take into account that this product will evolve over time and come to be different than described here.
