Description
A red Burgundy wine combining delicacy and elegance
The estate
Domaine Pierre Vincent was founded in 2023, when the Solexia group took over the estate in Auxey-Duresses, in Burgundy, entrusting its management to Pierre Vincent, alongside partners Hervé Kratiroff and Éric Versini. Formerly technical director at Domaine de la Vougeraie and then managing director of Domaine Leflaive, Pierre Vincent now runs this vineyard of approximately 7 hectares, spread across several prestigious climats of the Côte de Beaune, with a philosophy founded on purity of fruit and respect for the living world.
The vineyard
The Les Duresses climat extends across a large part of Monthélie and into the neighboring commune of Auxey-Duresses, forming sloping hillsides that encircle the foot of the Montagne du Bourdon. The estate's plot, covering 0.1710 hectare, has been planted with Pinot Noir since 1979 on clay-and-stony soil with an easterly exposure. The vines are tended without herbicides or pesticides, with soil tillage followed by grass cover, in an approach close to biodynamics.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage stands out for a cooler and markedly wetter season than previous vintages, with heavy rainfall in spring and early summer that encouraged fungal disease pressure and led to a sharp drop in yields. The return of the sun from mid-August, combined with cool nights, nevertheless allowed for slow ripening and a satisfactory balance between sugar and acidity.
Winemaking and aging
The Monthélie 1er cru “Les Duresses” 2024 comes from a hand-picked harvest, with 50% vinified as whole bunches. After a cold pre-fermentation maceration, the vatting lasts around fifteen days. Aging continues for eighteen months in oak barrels, around 20% of them new, followed by a period in stainless steel tank before bottling.
Grape variety
This Monthélie 1er cru “Les Duresses” 2024 from Pierre Vincent is 100% Pinot Noir.
