Description
The Finesse and Precision of a Monthélie Village White Wine
The Estate
Founded in 2024 in Auxey-Duresses, in Burgundy, Domaine Pierre Vincent farms around 7 hectares of vines spread across prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune. It belongs to the Solexia group, led by Hervé Kratiroff and Éric Versini, while Pierre Vincent, formerly technical director at Domaine de la Vougeraie and then managing director of Domaine Leflaive, now runs the estate. Drawn to the principles of biodynamics, he favors minimal-intervention winemaking and meticulous plot-by-plot work, giving each cuvée a distinctive, artisanal identity.
The Vineyard
Monthélie Village "Les Sous-Roches" comes from a 0.22-hectare Chardonnay plot, planted in 1996 on a particularly steep, east-facing slope at the foot of the Montagne du Frémont. The marly clay-limestone soil, rich in stones, fractured rock and limestone fossils, gives this Monthélie climat a strong mineral identity. The soils are plowed and then covered with grass, with very limited use of inputs, and the hand-harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting.
Winemaking and Aging
To produce the Monthélie Village "Les Sous-Roches" 2024, the grapes are pressed pneumatically, slowly and gently, and the must is then settled overnight. Alcoholic fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel tanks, before the wine is transferred to barrels, around 15% of which are new oak, for malolactic fermentation and twelve months of aging. The wine is then racked into stainless steel tanks, where it continues to age for a further six months before bottling.
Grape Variety
This Monthélie Village "Les Sous-Roches" 2024 by Pierre Vincent is 100% Chardonnay.
