Description
The Sublime Mineral Elegance of a Grand Cru Classe from Saint-Emilion
A Premier Grand Cru Classe B of Saint-Emilion, Clos Fourtet shines among the greatest references of the famous appellation of the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.
Since 2001, the passion and commitment of the Cuvelier family have given the vintages a very evident elegance and depth, along with a pure expression of the great limestone terroir.
A vintage of contrasts and challenges, 2017 will be remembered for the episodes of frost that touched the vineyards of Bordeaux without sparing those of Clos Fourtet. The sacrifice of quantity however was not made at the price of quality and the close attention paid by the estate allowed for the creation of a beautiful Grand Vin.
The experience and know-how of the technical teams, led by the talented Mathieu Cuvelier, made it possible to get the very best out of the most beautiful limestone parcels of the property.
The blend is dominated by Merlot (86%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (4%). The Clos Fourtet 2017 offers the elegance and sublime minerality of wines from the greatest limestones terroirs.
Beautiful and delicately polished, the aromatic bouquet exudes intense minerality, the typical footprint of limestone terroirs. Fragrances of flowers and dried herbs appear when the wine is swirled, while the fruit displays its brilliance and purity through notes of black cherry and blackberry. Truly elegant, this Cru delivers a structured palate of great precision. Fine, ripe tannins glide across the palate, extending into a lingering finish that retains a minerality with savory notes. A sublime expression of the great terroir of Saint-Emilion.
