Description
The freshness and finesse of a Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion
The estate
The origins of Château Villemaurine date back to the Moorish era, as evidenced by its name, derived from “Ville Maure”. Since 2005, the Onclin family has owned it. Under the leadership of Justin Onclin, the estate has established itself as an emblematic reference of the appellation, combining rigor, passion and the enhancement of an exceptional terroir.
The vineyard
Located just steps from the historic heart of Saint-Émilion, the vineyard of Château Villemaurine rests on clay and limestone soils laid over the famous Astéries limestone rock, giving the wines a mineral framework and remarkable depth.
The vintage
Because great wines are born in great terroirs, the exceptional vineyard of Château Villemaurine was spared the frost episodes that struck in late April 2017. The climatic conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal maturity, resulting in a harmonious taste balance thanks to an ideal sugar-acidity ratio and great aromatic freshness.
Blend
Merlot (80 %) and Cabernet Franc (20 %).
