Description
The finesse and freshness of an exceptional Margaux
In line with the vintages that have marked history, 2018 will undoubtedly be remembered at Chateau Rauzan-Gassies, a prestigious 2nd Grand Cru Classe property located on the Margaux appellation.
After a rainy spring, which brought with it a strong pressure from mildew, a beautifully dry and hot summer favored the full ripening of the fruit. The must showed great alcoholic potential, a balanced level of acidity and great freshness.
Blending Cabernet Sauvignon (74%) with Merlot (26%), the Chateau Rauzan-Gassies 2018 is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes of its appellation, in this great Bordeaux vintage.
At the tasting, the Chateau Rauzan-Gassies 2018 demonstrated all of its beauty. This vintage has a beautifully dark, deep color with purple tones. Intensely aromatic, the nose opens with notes of black fruit, cherry with kirsch, blackcurrant and sweet spices, punctuated with delicate floral fragrances (rose), as well as hints of mint and chocolate. The palate is refined and elegant, revealing a fantastic structure of ripe, fine-grained, mouth-coating tannins. The mid-palate is deliciously fruit-forward and brilliantly fresh. The long finish ends with fragrant notes of black fruits. A great vintage for Rauzan-Gassies.
