Description
A delicate and aromatic Saint-Emilion wine
The estate
Chateau Quinault l’Enclos is located on the right bank of Bordeaux in the Saint-Emilion appellation. Belonging to the famous Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Emilion Chateau Cheval Blanc, the wines of Chateau Quinault I'Enclos benefit from the same care as those of Chateau Cheval Blanc.
The vineyard
The Chateau Quinault l'Enclos vineyard covers 19 hectares of vines. It is located near the Dordogne River, in the Saint-Emilion appellation.
The vintage
The start of 2020 was marked by dry conditions favoring an early budding of the vines. The month of March began with heavy rainfall before a period of warm temperatures, prompting the rapid start of the vegetative cycle. The strong pressure of blight at the beginning of the vegetative cycle was gradually neutralized by hot and dry climatic conditions. While the months of April, May and June were temperate and rainy, summer conditions were extremely dry with very high temperatures, causing significant water stress. A rainy episode during the week of August 15 was beneficial for the vineyard. 2020 remains one of the warmest years on record since 1994. The harvest was consistent, yielding fruit of high quality.
The blend
The Chateau Quinault l´Enclos 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (78%) and Cabernet Franc (22%).
The tasting
Color
The wine displays subtle purplish reflections.
Nose
The nose combines, with the freshness of licorice, delicate fragrances of ripe black fruit with balsamic and tobacco notes.
Palate
Full-bodied and fruity, the attack extends to a delicious mid-palate. The delicate tannins tighten gradually, firming up a rich and delicious texture.
