Description
A Fruity and Dry Rose from Coteaux d'Aix en Provence
Housed in a 16th-century Provencal country house, Chateau Pigoudet is nestled in a landscape originally chosen by the Romans to plant grapevines. Situated at the northern edge of Coteaux d'Aix en Provence appellation, the vineyard is managed by means of sustainable agriculture, extending over 40 hectares of south-facing vines at an altitude of 400m. The estate was acquired in 1992 by successful entrepreneur and visionary Bernhard Schmidt and his wife Elke, who set about creating a rosé with its own unique indentity. The Premiere Rosé cuvée is produced from grapes grown on clay-limestone subsoil with small pebbles. The blend contains Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes harvested at night to preserve the freshness of the fruit.
The Premiere Rosé 2017 from Chateau Pigoudet displays a very pretty, pale pink color in the glass. The aromatic bouquet opens to reveal juicy stone fruits, like peaches and apricots, along with hints of lychee, strawberry, banana and even some fresh white flowers. The nose is followed by a consistent palate with an ample, fresh and lively attack making way for strawberry, peach and melon flavors, along with subtle touches of citrus and a refreshing natural carbonation. The Premiere Rosé 2017 is a great choice for a summer apperitif, perfect to enjoy in its youth in the company of friends.
