Description

A Powerful and Concentrated Second Grand Cru Classé

The property

2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Château Pichon Baron belongs to the elite of the Grands Crus of Pauillac, on the left bank of Bordeaux.

The vineyard

A true mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard of Château Pichon Baron extends over 73 hectares of vines planted on perfectly drained Médoc gravel soils. The oldest vines of the property are used in the elaboration of this emblematic wine of the Pauillac appellation.

The vintage

Unanimously recognized as one of the best vintages of Bordeaux, the year 2010 testifies to a dry and sunny climate conducive to the maturation of the grapes. It can be compared to the vintages of 1995 and 2003 due to the low weight of the berries and to the 2009 vintage for the slow and regular maturation of the grapes.

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (79%) and merlot (21%).

The color is intense, adorned with violet reflections.

Nose
The complex and fine aromas of red and black fruits with toasted nuances are revealed. After aeration, the complexity of the aromas evolves towards menthol notes, sweet spices and cocoa.

The concentrated and precise tannins denote a rich, powerful and explosive wine on the palate. The finish is long and gourmet.

Cellaring

A magnificent reference for this vintage, the Château Pichon Baron 2010 will cross the decades with the elegance and splendor of the great wines of Pauillac.
