Description
A powerful and concentrated Second Grand Cru Classé
The producer
Château Pichon Baron, a Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, belongs to the elite of Pauillac Grands Crus, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
A true patchwork of terroirs and ideally located near the Gironde estuary, Château Pichon Baron’s vineyard spreads over 73 hectares of vines which are planted on perfectly drained Medoc gravel soils. The estate’s oldest vines are used to make this appellation’s iconic wine.
The vintage
Unanimously acknowledged as one of the best Bordeaux vintages, the 2010 vintage was characterised by a dry and sunny climate which favoured and enables the grapes to ripen. It can be compared to the 1995 and 2003 vintages due to the grape's light weight and to the 2009 vintage for the slow and regular ripening of the grapes.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (79%)
Merlot (21%).
