Description
A silky red wine from Pauillac with a rich aromatic palette
The estate
A 2nd Classified Growth of 1855 belonging to the elite group of Bordeaux Grands Crus, Château Pichon Baron is one of the greatest estates of the Pauillac appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
A veritable mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the Pichon Baron vineyard extends over 73 hectares of vines planted in Médoc gravels soils with perfect drainage. The oldest vines of the property are used in the production of this emblematic Pauillac wine.
The vintage
The particularly mild conditions at the beginning of the year favoured an early budburst and flowering. The grapes were able to benefit from optimal sunshine, enabling the grapes to reach a beautiful concentration. The Merlot grapes were harvested from September 26th to October 3rd, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon from 7 to 14 October.
Vinification and ageing
Maceration from 15 to 23 days. The wine is aged for 15 months in barrels (70% new and 30% second-fill barrels).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%)
Merlot (35%).
