Description
The estate
Located in Saint-Hippolyte in the Saint-Emilion appellation, Chateau Magrez Fombrauge rests on an archaeological site dating from the 5th century BC. This château, producing a great Bordeaux wine, is the property of Bernard Magrez.
The vineyard
The 1.96-hectare vineyard is planted in clay-limestone soils and “molasse de du fronsadais”.
The winemaking
Harvest on September 26 and October 3. Manual harvest in crates. Careful sorting by hand. One week cold pre-fermentation maceration. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. Manual punching down. Maceration between 28 and 32 days.
The aging
18 months of aging. New oak barrels and terracotta amphorae.
The grape varieties
Merlot (70%), cabernet franc (30%).
