Description
An expressive and delicate Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
With records tracing its existence back to 1585, Château Larmande is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Émilion, on Bordeaux's right bank. This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé is a property of the AG2R LA MONDIALE Group.
The vineyard
Located in Saint-Émilion, Château Larmande oversees a 22-hectare vineyard whose vines, averaging 25 years of age, are planted on clay-limestone soil made up of ancient sands, clay, and silica. The estate is committed to working its vines as closely as possible to nature in order to preserve local biodiversity.
The vintage
Mild temperatures marked the start of the year, with significant rainfall favoring both rapid vegetative growth and strong mildew pressure. Flowering came quickly in late May. A rainy spring preceded a summer punctuated by two heatwaves.
Winemaking and aging
Aging takes place in barrels (50% new oak, 20% one-wine barrels), amphorae (10%), and vats (20%).
Blend
Château Larmande 2023 is made from a blend of Merlot (78%), Cabernet Franc (21%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (1%).
