Description
A Pauillac Grand Cru Classé combining structure and balance
The estate
Founded in 1675, the Château Grand-Puy Ducasse was born when Arnaud Ducasse acquired a property in Pauillac. The estate truly took shape under Pierre Ducasse, who extended the vineyard across three parishes. Classified as a 5th Growth in 1855, this 40-hectare vineyard spread across several soil types embodies the diversity of Pauillac's terroirs. Unique for its urban setting, it is the only château to vinify in the heart of the town for 200 years. Owned by Crédit Agricole Grands Crus since 2005, this Bordeaux jewel is distinguished by the structure and incredible aging potential of its wines.
The vineyard
Located in the Pauillac appellation, the vineyard of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse covers 40 hectares and features a remarkable diversity of soils. This mosaic of terroirs represents an exceptional asset for crafting complex wines that are representative of the appellation.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage was demanding, with unstable weather requiring great vigilance. After a mild winter and a cool, humid spring conducive to high sanitary pressure, the drier summer allowed for good tannin ripening. Despite the September rains and the threat of botrytis, the teams were able to preserve the vineyard’s sanitary condition.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvesting; aging takes place over 18 months in French oak barrels.
Blend
This Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2024 is made from a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
