Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2024

Strongly marked by oak, with ripe cherry and blackberry in the background; on the palate, perfectly ripe fruit and noticeable tannins from barrel aging, a fine acid structure, and plenty of freshness on the finish; with more polish from maturation, there is room to improve.

Deep ruby and inky in the glass, this wine impresses with smoky, roasted aromas and notes of dark berries and coffee. The palate is round and concentrated, with bold yet elegant tannins that are already showing refinement. Structured and long, this is a polished Pauillac with poise and ageing potential.

Currants, blackberries, black currants, licorice, and espresso form the core of this wine. Medium-bodied, almost creamy in texture, with loads of sweet currants, mint, licorice, and espresso in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 9% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2029-2045. 91-93 Pts

The nose shows fruit, freshness, elegance, lovely harmony and a melodious, multi-layered character. It reveals notes of graphite, concentrated blackcurrant, Boysenberry and, more subtly, graphene, together with touches of roasted cherry, as well as hints of violet and cornflower, fine hints of fairly ripe cherry, touches of blond tobacco and smoke, delicate hints of spice and a subtle touch of eucalyptus. The palate is fruity, fresh and mineral, offering a fresh framework, acidity, indulgence and a slight creaminess. It also shows a certain tension, accuracy, suppleness, good definition, a lovely airy creamy texture, dynamism and beautiful aromatic depth. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of creamy blackcurrant, Boysenberry and fairly ripe black cherry, and more lightly of small creamy red berries, combined with touches of graphite and mocha, as well as hints of sweet almond tobacco and fine touches of Bourbon vanilla. A wine offering freshness, indulgence, precision, a lovely infusion-like finesse, and a lovely texture and mid-palate. A hint of salinity on the finish.
