Description
A Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe located on the right bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Grand Mayne managed to produce one of the most beautiful references of its appellation in the 2018 vintage.
Made from a blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%), the Chateau Grand Mayne 2018 is aged in oak barrels (60% new wood and 40% barrels of one previous wine).
At the tasting, the Chateau Grand Mayne 2018 displays a beautiful dark purple color. The intensely aromatic bouquet opens with notes of ripe black fruit, plum and fruit cake, evolving floral fragrances and slightly minty touches. The minerality of the clay-limestone soils of Saint-Emilion come through clearly in chalky notes. The very gourmet palate is generous with a concentrated structure and powerful tannins. The crisp acidity of the wine guides the development of the palate, with plenty of elegance. The palate stretches into a lingering finish with spicy and fruity flavors. A magnificent vintage of Chateau Grand Mayne.
