Marks and reviews
Situated on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Giscours is a historic property in the Margaux appellation, with vines first planted in the 16th century. This superb 3rd Cru Classé de Margaux is a true flagship of the Bordeaux region, with its distinctive neoclassical palace architecture, its park of rare species and its buildings, including the beautiful "Ferme Suzanne." Since 1995, Château Giscours has entered a new era in its history following its acquisition by the Albada Jelgersma family.
Château Giscours 2022 is a Margaux wine produced from 95 hectares of vines out of a total of 300 hectares. A real jewel, the special feature of the Château Giscours terroir lies in the presence of 3 deep Garonne gravel ridges, which play a decisive role in the grapes' ripening cycle.
The mild winter preceded a particularly hot and dry spring and summer. Thanks to the knowledge and rigour of our teams, we were able to maintain the health of the vineyards. The natural mulching provided by the plant cover protected the soil from the heat and helped to capture water from the summer storms to replenish the water reserves. Despite their small size, the concentrated berries were ideally able to withstand the heatwave thanks to their deep roots.
