Description
An aromatic and elegant Saint-Émilion red wine
The estate
Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, Château-Figeac embodies the excellence of Bordeaux's great wines around the world. Owned by the Manoncourt family for over 120 years, Château-Figeac is co-managed by Jean-Valmy Nicolas and its director, Frédéric Faye.
The vineyard
Château-Figeac enjoys an exceptional location to the west of the Saint-Émilion appellation, bordering the Pomerol appellation. The estate’s vineyard covers 40 hectares and is planted on three different gravel ridges. Respect for biodiversity, flora and fauna is at the heart of the estate’s concerns.
The vintage
The Saint-Émilion vines benefited from a rather sunny and warm climate until the end of the harvest, allowing a harvest of healthy, perfectly ripe grapes. In 2015, Figeac’s great terroir was fully expressed, particularly through its gravelly hills and the three complementary grape varieties.
Blend
29% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc and 43% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Characteristics and tasting advice for Château-Figeac 2015
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic depth of the cabernets is simply exceptional. One discovers a range of floral aromas provided by the Cabernet Francs, which complement the freshness of the fruity and spicy bouquet of the Cabernet Sauvignons.
Palate
A true palette of sensations for the palate, the juicy flesh of the Merlot envelops this ensemble and lends it a broad mid-palate with a velvety texture. The tannic structure carries the wine to a long, persistent finish.
