A great vintage ending in -9 at this Margaux Grand Cru Classe
A Margaux Third Classified Growth of 1855, Chateau Desmirail illustrates, through its wines, the typical qualities of its exceptional terroir. Owned by the Lurton family since 1992, Chateau Desmirail has equipped itself with an infrastructure that matches its terroir, allowing for the elevation of this Cru Classé to the highest level.
The Chateau Desmirail vineyard extends over forty hectares cultivated with the greatest respect for the environment through a sustainable viticulture. The soils are made up of gravel dating from the Quaternary period, the terroir of choice for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
A tumultuous vintage that tested the nerves of winemakers, 2019 saw a harvest at Chateau Desmirail that began on Wednesday September 25 and spanned three weeks. Picked according to ripeness, the Merlot and Cabernet displayed superb quality and moderate degrees of alcohol. For this estate, 2019 was a year that combined quantity and quality. This fine vintage promises to be similar to 1959, 1989 and 2009.
