A rich and well-balanced Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
Since 1971, the Vauthier family, also owners of the prestigious Château Ausone, has been at the helm of Château de Fonbel. Located south of the village of Saint-Émilion, this estate stands out for its innovative approach, regarded as a testing ground for Château Ausone and its Chapelle. The property is part of the region's long winemaking history, benefiting from the Vauthier family's expertise and special attention.
The vineyard
Château de Fonbel spans an area of 16 hectares. The vines, with an average age of 26 years, sink their roots into a mosaic of soils ranging from clay-sand to gravelly and sandy, offering an ideal environment for producing a great Saint-Émilion wine.
The wine
This 2020 vintage marks the estate's first year in conversion to Organic Farming.
Winemaking and Aging
Fermentation mainly in stainless steel tanks and 30% in barrels.

Tasting notes
Pure and elegant, this wine is the ideal expression of the quintessence of Saint-Émilion terroir. Throughout the tasting, savory fruity aromas blend with the spicy, licorice notes characteristic of carménère.
Serving
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, after airing the bottle or decanting it.

This vintage pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, leg of lamb, or matured cheeses.
Aging potential
Thanks to its balance and freshness, this Château de Fonbel 2020 can be cellared until around 2035.
